Staff sergeant Ellsworth Allen Raup III, 33, passed away suddenly on May 9th, 2016 in Killeen, Texas.
Allen was born in Texas City, Texas on November 13th, 1982. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from La Marque high school in 2001 where he was active in the ROTC program. After graduation he and Dana Pacheco-Raup were married on October 29, 2001. He had enlisted in the Marine Corp. whilst still in high school and attended boot camp in November 2001. During his time in the Marines as served two deployments to Iraq and Honduras. He transferred to the Army in 2010 and he was trained as an EOD technician and served as a team leader with the 797th EOD and was also attached to the 752nd. He was deployed twice by the Army, once to Irag and once to Kuwait. Allen was awarded numerous medal and awards during his military career including commendations from the Army, Marines, and the Joint Services.
Ellsworth was a warm, loving and compassionate man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was the consummate jokester with a permanent smile on his face. Although he greatly enjoyed his motorcycle and sports of all kinds, his greatest passions were saved for his children.
Those who will miss Allen most will be his four children Heaven Leigh Eva Raup, Johanna Emma Jade Raup, Ellsworth Allen Raup IV, Jane Charlotte Raup, his wife Dana, his parents Clarence and Rosalind Tipton and Allen and Denise Raup, and his brother Joseph Milton Raup, as well as a host of close friends, family, and his military brothers in arms.
Allen is preceded in death by his grandparents Blanche Schaper, Joseph Smith, Alice Tipton, Milton Schultz Sr, and mother-in-law Charlene Pacheco.
The visitation will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and the funeral service will be 12 noon, Friday, May 20, 2016 at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, TX City, TX 77591. The graveside will follow immediately after at Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the EOD Warrior Foundation.
