Sherry Bernard

Sherry Lynn Bernard, 57, of League City, went to heaven on October 21st. 2013 , at Kindred LTAC in Clear Lake, TX while surrounded by family and friends, after a long and courageous battle with stroke, pneumonia, and other illnesses.

Sherry was born Sherry Lynn Guilbeau in El Paso, TX on April 19th, 1956. She was the first daughter of the late Willis and Joyce Guilbeau. She moved with her family to Franklin, Louisiana in 1959 and grew up there with her sister Gerri and brother Gary. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1973. She had her daughter, Rianne in 1977 and 4 years later her son Eric. The family relocated to Houston, TX and there she received her Real Estate License and Associates degree in Business. She worked as an office manager for Greenpark surgery center until moving back to Louisiana where she lived on a farm and raised Emu's and Ostriches. In 1997, she opened up an antique shop called Sherry's Antiques.

In 2000, Sherry and her boyfriend bought an RV and traveled all over America for two years. She moved back to Houston to be near her children. Sherry loved  gardening and to cook for her family. Her favorite place to be was on a warm sunny beach, listening to the ocean. In 2002 her first grandson Braden was born and three years later, her granddaughter, Bella. Soon to follow her 3rd and 4th granddaughters, Genevieve and Eliana. She loved her grandchildren and spent most of her days with them.

On March 8th, 2009, Sherry suffered a stroke during surgery and was paralyzed on her right side. Regardless, she had a strong fighting spirit and hope that she could recover. She bravely pushed through day after day of painful physical therapy but her health deteriorated and she suffered pneumonia 4 times. Through all of her hardships, she never gave up and remained grateful for what she had. Her son, Eric Bernard passed away on May 31st. 2013 and Sherry joined him in heaven 4 months later. Sherry will always be remembered as a very generous, caring, and compassionate person who really loved her children and grandchildren. She had a good outlook on life and made everyone she talked to feel special.

Sherry is preceded in death by her father, Willis Guilbeau and mother, Joyce Guilbeau, and son Eric Bernard.
Sherry is survived by her boyfriend of 23 years, Pat McClain of Slidell, Louisiana, her daughter Rianne Millikin and husband Mike Millikin of League City, daughter in law, Laura Kraesig of League City, sister Gerri McMillan of Broussard, brother Gary Guilbeau of Broussard, Louisiana, her four grandchildren Braden Millikin, Bella Millikin, Genevieve Bernard, and Eliana Bernard, nephew Justin McMiillan and wife Paige of Phoenix Arizona, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sherry loved animals and dreamed to one day open a rescue shelter so please send any memorial contributions to your local shelter in her honor.
