Sedrick Matthew

   MR. SEDRICK MATTHEW was born to Mr. Pershing M. Matthew and Mrs. Frances Zimmerman Matthew on May 21, 1955. He was the youngest of eight children.  Sedrick was born in New Orleans, Louisiana but moved to Houston, Texas at an early age where he attended Smiley High School, and later furthered his education in Business Studies at the University of Houston.

   As a younger man, Sedrick accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at New Light Christian Center Church under the leadership of Bishop I.V. Hilliard, where he taught faithfully in Children’s Ministry for many years. After being filled with the Spirit of God, Sedrick became a faithful member of Strong Faith Bible Church under the leadership of Apostle Larry Elder, Sr. As a dedicated partner of Larry Elder Ministries, he served faithfully in Media Outreach Ministry.

   Sedrick was a beloved, dependable, respectable, giving and loving husband to Osia Matthew for twenty-three years. In that marriage he acquired three sons; Renaldo Glover, Douglas Glover and Malcom Sallie.

   From his previous marriage to Judelan Williams, was born son, Sedrick Matthew Jr; grandchildren; Sedrick Matthew III and Jacenda Matthew, whom he loved dearly and shared many precious attributes with them.

   In his leisure, Sedrick watching, documentaries, westerns, Christian movies, action movies, animal kingdom and sports, Go Saints! He also loved cars and going to car shows. 

  Our beloved Sedrick made his final transition from this earthly life into eternal rest on Monday, November 15, 2021. He is preceded in death by father, Pershing M. Matthew; mother, Frances Z. Matthew; brothers, Pershing M. Matthew Jr., Dennis Matthew, and Shelby M. Matthew; sisters, Marie E. Matthew and Judy A. Matthew.

   He leaves a lifetime of precious and loving memories and is survived by wife, Osia Matthew; children, Sedrick Matthew Jr; 

Renaldo and Douglas Glover, and Malcom Sallie; grandchildren, Sedrick Matthew III and Jacenda Matthew; brother, Raymond L. Matthew; sister, Beverly A. Matthew; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and many Kingdom brothers and sisters. 

   The life that Sedrick leaves behind is nothing compared to the life he now lives.  Sedrick is absent from the body but present with the Lord. Thus ends the life story of a proud father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle, church leader and friend.

The family will greet guests on Sunday November 28, 2021 from 1-2:00 pm with 2:00 pm Funeral Services to follow at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway Texas City, Texas 77591. Apostle Larry Elder, Sr. will officiating. Repass will follow at Carnes after Services.
