On June 29, 1939, in Live Oak, Texas; Roy and Odiest B. Times Sr. welcomed their beautiful son, Roy Times Jr. into the world . Born the eldest child of three, Roy attended school in Bay City, graduating from the local high school, and later attending Medical College, receiving his certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, where he worked in the local doctors office in Bay City, Texas.
Moving to Houston, Texas, Mr. Roy began his career working for Southwestern Bell, which later became AT&T and lastly, Lucent Technologies as a technician where he retired after 43 years of dedicated service.
Mr. Roy met and fell in love with Theresa Joseph, whom he united in marriage with on March 10, 1990, they purchased a beautiful home in Missouri City, Texas, where they built a blessed and joyful life, blending their families together, their union resulted in having nine children. Mr. Roy was a welcoming beacon of light for family as well as strangers, a man of God, humble and of few words, Roy was a giant man of great action; there was never a need that he did not try to fulfil.
Roy loved the Lord and knew that Angels are real, Roy was a member of The Blessed One Ministries alongside his wife Theresa from its beginnings .
Mr. Roy leaves to mourn his beautiful wife of 31 years, Theresa Times, seven sons and two daughters: Reece Times (Judy), Terryl Times (Cheri), Samuel Times, Chris Times, Roy E. Times (Tanisha), Gerald Joseph, Marshalette Joseph (Will), Myosha Davis, and Jonathan Times. Two siblings: Edward Lewis Times of San Diego, Ca. and his baby sister Marva Ann Sampson (who preceded him in death), ten grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephew’s and god-children, as well as an overload of friends who loved him dearly. Rest in Heaven with the Angels Roy Times Jr., a job well done and a shining example of a godly man.
His family will receive friends on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 9:00am to 10:00am in the Chapel of Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, TX 77591. Mr. Roy’s Celebration of Life will follow at 10:00am with Minister Theresa Times officiating. Interment at Paradise North Cemetery, Houston, TX.
