Marietta Regina Jones

Marietta Jones

On a cool beautiful day, February 27, 1960 in Galveston, Texas a precious baby girl was born to John Henry Jones, Jr. and Faith Ann Byrd. They named their blessing Marietta Regina Jones.

Marietta was educated in the public schools of Galveston Independent School District. She completed her education at Ball High School.  She was baptized into the catholic faith at a young age. She attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Galveston, Texas.

“Mar” as she was lovingly called by family and friends.  Loved music, shopping for her favorite jeans and tennis shoes. She reflected her favorite color, blue which is calming and soothing.  She had a gentle loving spirit. She had her own unique way of making everyone feel special. Although she may have not had riches, she gave more to people with her love and concern and that cannot be compared to great riches. Nothing gave her joy like spending valuable time with her mother, grandchildren, daughters, and her other family. She was a dutiful employee at Moody House until she was faced with health challenges.

There's comfort in knowing that a loving God knows best. “May your peace come from the joy we've shared.” Marietta Regina Jones transitioned from her earthly life on July 4, 2021 in La Marque, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father, John Henry Jones, Jr.; brothers, John Henry Jones, III, Kenneth Norman Jones, and Darrell Dennis Jones.

Marietta leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, her mother, Faith Ann Jones; daughters, Aisheia M. Jones-Allen (Oscar), Deshaundra D. Jones, Demetrius D. Jones (Noe), Lakisha S. Jones (Clarence); grandchildren, Asha, Abraham V, Jason, Ishmael, Cavance, Joel, Alexis, Aiyanna, Clarence Jr., and Cornell; siblings, Leonard S. Jones (Sabrina), Phyllis S. Jones, Karen A. Jones (Clyde); uncles and aunts, Robert Jones (Mildred), Phillip Jones, Isaac Jackson, Nancy Jones, Mary Helen Benson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
