Katherine Virginia Vasen was called home by the Lord on the 19th of February 2021. She was 93 years young. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Catherine County; her beloved husband, Edward Vasen; her son, William "Bill" Vasen; and her dog, Beauregard. Virginia is survived by her devoted daughter Catherine Ann Elizondo and her husband David; her granddaughter Karen M. Bogan and her family John L. Bogan and John Patrick Bogan; and her grandson, Christopher J. Belmarez and his family Hillary M. Belmarez and Claire C. Belmarez; and her loving dog, George.
Virginia was kind beyond measure and generous in every way. Leading the family in grace and faithfulness, she taught them to always serve the Church and their community. Virginia served as a Catholic Daughter for decades, holding many offices throughout the years. She was also a member of St. Augustine’s Women’s Guild that performed humble tasks such as cleaning the church and doing the linens for the altar. She was admired and respected by many for her wisdom, strength of character, and proud devotion to the Church.
Virginia and her husband loved to travel. They saw the world together and always brought back fantastic stories with pictures to match. Virginia never met a stranger, and she often made new friends, some of whom became her (or her grandkids’) pen pals.
She loved to talk with her family over afternoon tea, ovaltine, or a wonderful dinner. She was always there for her family to listen and give the best advice. Even if she didn’t give advice, she always said extra prayers for you, and when she did you knew that her prayers were heard. Now it is our turn to pray for her, as she will be truly missed.
Her family invites you to join them for the funeral Mass and graveside service. It will be held at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5438 Laurel Creek Way in Pasadena, on Tuesday, February 23rd at noon followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at South Park Cemetery's Resurrection Garden, 1310 North Main Street in Pearland.
