Glenda Ann Russell Parr
Glenda Ann Russell Parr, 75, of Texas City, passed away at home with her family on October 20, 2018. She was born on January 26, 1943 to Herman and MayBelle Russell in the East Texas Piney Woods and grew up in Hawkins, Texas, where she still has many friends. She was a long-time resident of Texas City.
Glenda loved to read and spend time on her patio watching the birds. She had a special relationship with her Lord and Savior and communed with Him through nature, prayer, and extensive studying of the Bible. She reflected deeply on the meaning of His Word and could often be found with one of her Bibles and multiple reference books to help her understand and apply his messages to her life. She had many close friends in the Lord and took great comfort from them.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, O.C. Parr of Texas City; children, Pamela K Parr of Texas City and Cynthia Lynn Parr of Texas City; grandchildren, Zachary Welch of Texas City, Robin Welch of Austin, and Cameron Parr of Texas City; 3 great-grandsons; 2 step great-grandsons; sister, Terri Herrington and her husband Paul;brother-in-law Weldon Zgarba; brother-in-law Thomas Parr and wife Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and MayBelle Russell, her daughter Robin Parr, her grandson Brian Welch, and her sister Betty Zgarba.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City. Visitation will be held before the service at 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Memorials can be made to the Galveston Chapter of the Ronald McDonald House or to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America.
