Donna Rae Walker
Donna Rae Walker, 65, passed away peacefully on August 20th, 2021 surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born in Missouri on July 25, 1956 to Hubert and Margaret (Raker) Cypret.
She attended Thayer High School in Thayer, Missouri. After graduation she moved to LaMarque, Texas to go to nursing school and that’s where she met the love of her life, Jimmy Walker. Donna received her RN degree from College of the Mainland then continued studies to become an OB/Gyn Practitioner. She loved nursing and was outstanding in her field. She worked at Mainland Medical Center, UTMB, and completed her nursing career with Planned Parent Hood. She was loved by all her patients and was requested to be their nurse practitioner.
Donna loved Sonic Happy Hour, going to casinos, traveling, shopping, decorating her home especially for Christmas. She spent her leisure time gardening, watching Hallmark movies, glass making, wreath making, hanging out with friends,and rehabilitating wild animals such as squirrels and racoons.Her most cherished possessions in life were her family, friends, and puppies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Margaret Cypret; brother, Lehman Cypret; sisters, Bonnie Spurrell and Connie Cunningham; brothers-in-law, Bill Spurrell, Wesley Smoot and Kurt Evans; and niece, Michelle Spurrell.
Donna is survived by her son, Nick Walker and his wife Jessica; granddaughter, Marley Walker; sisters, Nancy Evans and Brenda O’Dell; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Chapel of Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, TX 77591. Donna’s Celebration of Life will follow on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 10:00am. Interment at Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock, TX.
Pallbearers will be: Curtis David, Jarrett Sullivan, Matt Sullivan, John Lowe, Carson Steely, and Nathan Hart. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Kaleb Ronning, Stevie Sullivan, August LaFoy, and Grant Mathis.
In memory of Donna’s love for raising squirrels, Memorial contributions may be made to the Santa Fe Wildlife Rehabilitation, 4704 Orem, Santa Fe, TX 77517.
Donna will be dearly missed and always remembered.
