Carroll Cox
Carroll Olwin “C.O.” Cox, Jr. died at his home in Houston,Texas on August 23rd, 2021. He was 84 years old.
C.O. is survived by his daughter, Romney Cox, son, Phil Cox, his daughter-in-law, Cricket Cox, and his beloved grandchildren, Charley & Cash Cox.
C.O. was born in Houston on May 21,1937, to Dorothy P. Cox and Carroll O. Cox, Sr. He was an only child and a spoiled one, at that. He graduated from Lamar High School and then studied at SMU and theUniversity of Houston. C.O. was married twice, first to Leslie McCormick (Romney & Phil’s mother) in the 1960’s and then briefly to Ann Wilson in the early 70’s. Although he had many wonderful women in his life, C.O.remained a bachelor for the rest of his days.
As an avid golfer, he was never far from the greens at River Oaks Country Club, where he was a member for 40+ years.C.O. enjoyed dove hunting with his buddies out in the hill country of west Texas and it isrumored that he was a pretty good slalom water skier, back in the day. He participated in the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s BBQ Cookoff for many years and his team, Damnifino (Damn if I know), took1st place in1980.
A small gathering in Houston for family and friends will be planned in the coming weeks. He will be missed here on earth, but we have comfort in knowing that he is with the Lord.
