Betty Chiasson

Betty May Chiasson of Texas City, age 86, passed from this Earth on September 02, 2021 in Galveston, Texas.

Betty was born on the island (BOI) in Galveston, Texas, to parents Frank Garibaldi and Sophie Baker Garibaldi.  She graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1954.  Betty married W.R. (Ron) Chiasson on February 26, 1957.  Betty loved her family and dedicated her life as a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.  As a mother, she supported her children as a Girl Scout leader, volunteering at school functions as well as chauffeuring her children to and from years of volleyball, Little League games and choir events.  As a grandmother (Maw Maw), she cherished spending time baby sitting and spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids. She also enjoyed sewing for family and friends. 

 Betty enjoyed traveling with family as well as vacationing with their best friends Delbert and Coatta Wilder, providing many lifelong memories for her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, W.R. “Ron” Chiasson;  father, Frank Garibaldi; mother and step-father, Sophie and Paul Reid;  brother, Frank Garibaldi Jr. and her beautiful great grandson Liam Gage.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Debbie Byers and husband Keith of Santa Fe, Texas; daughter, Janet Gill and husband Mickey of Santa Fe, Texas; son, Michael Chiasson and wife Dana Trussell.  Grandchildren, Robbie Gage and husband Mike; Ronnie Byers, Amanda Hampton and husband John, Karly Byers, Nathan Byers and wife Kelly, Amy Koster and husband Zak, Kim Howe and husband Clint, 14 but soon to be 15 great grandchildren along with her beloved dog Sammy. 

Pallbearers are Mike Gage, John Hampton, Zak Koster, Solon Gage, Nicholas Gage, Corbin Gage and Xavier Hampton.

A public viewing and visitation will be held for Betty Chiasson on the 9th of September, 2021 from 9:30am to 11:30am at Carne’s Funeral Home in Texas City. A private family graveside service will be held later in the day at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

They say things happen for a reason and we feel it was fate Robbie and Mike Gage along with their children moved in with their grandparents Ron and Betty. You were always there providing security, assistance, love and companionship. For that we are eternally grateful, and we know they were too.
