Aristide Richards

Aristide (A.J) Richards died on Monday July 21, 2014, After a long and brave battle with dementia and parkinsons disease.

He was born on November 8, 1936 in Biloxi, Mississippi to Moise and Claire Richards, He was the oldest of eight children.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Chris.

A.J graduated from Biloxi Senior High School in 1955, where he played football and was voted most athletic boy in his senior year. He along with his close friends formed the Nutty Buddy Boys, which they named after the ice cream with the cones and nuts on top.

After graduation A.J with some of his buddies joined the Navy. After serving his four years he and his close friend moved to Houston. He married, had three children and divorced. A.J was a postman until his health forced him into early retirement. He enjoyed going to the dog and horse tracks, casinos, playing scrabble with the scrabble club, buying and selling stuff at flea markets, a gene he passed on to his daughter, baseball, the eagles and George Jones and people. After being single many years he married Rosie. They celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on July 7,2014.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie Daughter; daughter, Andrea and her husband Bill;  granddaughter, Ava; sons, Andre and Adrain; stepson, Tobias and his wife Kristin; step granddaughters, Eleanor and Emelia; brothers, John and his wife Nita of Mississippi, Thomasand his wife Peg of Mississippi, Gerald and his wife Dianne of Mississippi; sisters, Sylvia and her husband Harry of Florida and Edmae (Tetsia) and her husband Skip of Georgia; brothers-in-law, Earl Kessler of California, Jaime Kessler of Beaumont; cousins; nieces; nephews and many, many friends.

A.J’s family would like to thank everybody for all the prayers, visits, support and care they gave to him during his long and very brave battle he went through.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 PM with a memorial service at 2:00 PM on August 2, 2014 at Carnes Funeral Home, 1102 Indiana Street, South Houston, TX 77587.
