April Lorraine "Alf" Fields
On Monday, September 13, 2021, April Lorraine ‘Alf’ Fields 47, departed from her earthly home in Hitchcock, Texas, after a lengthy illness. She moved to a new home in a house not made by man. Ready to join many family members who have gone on before her. Concerned about her absence from her only son; she left him the key to open the door to the place where she knew he would be cared for, the Almighty Father’s house. ‘A place to be’, The Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board, even in her time of illness.
Being the youngest of five girls born to Glenn and Carolyn Fields, April went to be with her parents, she was the apple of her daddy’s eye, who so lovingly called her his ‘Chocolate Chip’. She possessed special unique qualities of caring for her family and friends from early childhood until her last breath. She was their ‘Go to person,’ for just about everything. That everything included finding things that were lost, finding solutions to social, academic, and even economic issues they may have met. If she didn’t know the answers she found or figured out a way to get the answers.
She attended school in Hitchcock, where she was a proud graduate of ‘The Class of 1992’ where she graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. She went on to continue her education at College of the Mainland, where she obtained her Associates of Arts Degree in 1997.
April was sometimes viewed as being ‘mean’, only when she would not tolerate excuses; however, her love for others not only showed to her family but also in her professional career as a Certified Nurses Assistant in various nursing homes throughout Galveston County. She showed this same caring for her son and herself. She loved taking care of her hairstyles, feet, hands and nails, basking in a collection of ‘Bath and Body Works’, and an unending love of her beloved purses! She also loved to cook when she was in the mood. One of her specialties was her ‘Green Beans’ that her nieces loved so much.
Even though April joyfully joins those loving family members who have gone on before her: Father Glenn Ernest Fields, Mother: Carolyn C Price Fields; Two sisters: Cynthia ‘Big Ciny’ Rene Fields and Yolanda LaSherl Fields Fury. Grandparents: Clarence and Katherine Price, and Steve and Eula Chatman; Uncle Hubert ‘Bubba’ Price, Cousins: Ed ’Juan, Earnest and Aaron and her great niece, Da’Zaryan ‘RyRy’ LaSherl Fury.April leaves to mournfully miss her: only son Jeremiah ‘Ja’ as she affectionately called him; God children Madison LaKayla Fields and RaiZel Elisse Fields. Her loving Godmother; Felecia Ealy. Two sisters; Glenda Carol Fields Hasley and Sharon ‘Bucky’ Lynne Fields. Her nephews: Brandon (Juanisha), Cyrus (Lorilea), Corderou, and Clarence Fields. Her nieces, Chon-Sydne (Jean Cle’), Azania, Areil, DaZhon, Dasmine and ShaKara. Her great nieces and nephews: Kavin, Christian, Bria, Phillip (PJ), Cy’Moria, Ja’Liyah, Da’Zylen, Ra’Niyah, Cyrina, RiLeigh, Leonard Jr. (LJ), Carsyn, RyKer (RJ), Ja’Cori, Jackson, Kingston, and Ainsley. And numerous other family members and friends.
