Willie Wells III
Mr. Wells was born in Galveston, Texas, on December 12, 1943. He was the son of Willie and Mattie Wells. He departed this life on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at home with his loving and devoted wife, Dorothy, by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Wells Jr. and Mattie Delores Wells, sister, Eulalia Wells Neal, and son-in-law, Keith Burns.
Mr. Wells was educated in Hitchcock Public School and later Texas Southern University. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a Staff Sergeant until he was honorably discharged. He was then employed at several plants at Chocolate Bayou until his retirement.
He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was united with the Wilbur Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as a faithful member until his illness.
He was well loved by his family and all that knew him. Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted spouse of 48 years, Dorothy L. Johnson Wells, of La Marque; daughters, Rosalind Burns of Humble and Freda Wells of Spring; sisters, Mattie (George) Scott and Susan Provo of Houston; and grandchildren, Kendall, Reagan, and William Burns of Humble. Also left to cherish his memories are godson, Robert Dale, Jr., devoted friends, Robert and Shirley Young, the Spiller families, the Progressive Baptist Church family, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, his church family, and devoted friends.
A visitation for Mr. Willie Wells III will be held at Wilbur Chapel United Methodist Church, 7002 Martin Luther King Avenue in Hitchcock from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday, June 26th. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston, Texas at 2:30 pm.
