Willie Sr.’s Life Journey
Willie James Alexander Sr., born January 8, 1938 in Ethel, LA eldest son of James and Alma Alexander, of Zackary La, both parents preceded him in death. Willie Sr. was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Rose Lee Alexander, sister Velma Roberson, daughters Cassandra Oktara and Sharon Bryant.
Willie Sr. went on to Glory to be with the Lord Friday, August 19, 2016, at the age of 78 at his home in LaMargue Tx surrounded by his family and friends.
Willie Sr. attended public school in Zackary La, he graduated from Northwestern High School, class of 1957. He played football, ran track, sung in the school choir, and he worked as a chef and a butcher. He also attended Southern University.
Willie Sr.’s love for singing continued throughout his life; he sung with the Gospel Echoes and the Voices of the Mainland, his angelic, distinctive voice will be missed throughout this community, and many cities across the state of Texas.
Willie Sr. moved to the State of Texas in 1964, shortly afterwards he met and married his beloved wife Rose. He was employed by the City of LaMarque as their Public Works Director, he retired from this position in 2005.
Willie Sr. was a member of Neighborhood Missionary Baptist Church until his illness prevented him from attending.
Willie Sr. leaves to cherished his memories with his children; Alma Aletta Rogers of Baton Rouge, La Veronica Spight of Virginia, Tammy Hornsby (Patrick) of Buda Tx, Valerie Turner (Herbert) of LaMarque Tx,Carroll Alexander of Baton Rouge La, Stephon Alexander (Berda) of Baton Rouge La,Michael Demmar of Baton Rouge La, and Willie Alexander Jr. (Angela) of LaMarque Tx,siblings; McKinley Alexander (Donna) of Baton Rouge La, Nathaniel Alexander of Zackary La, and Larry Alexander of Baton Rouge La, grandchildren; Asreale Hornsby of Houston Tx, Gilpatrick Hornsby (Tiffany), of Harrisonburg Virginia, Jasmine Alexander, Chantae Armstrong, Jade Alexander, Raven Alexander all of LaMarque Tx, and a host of devoted family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Greater Barbours Chapel located at 7420 Hwy 1765 Texas City, Texas 77591 on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 1pm..
