William Reginald Billotte
William Reginald Billotte took his last breath 18 May 2017 in hospice care at UTMB after a month long battle with pneumonia and much longer struggle with Parkinson’s. Bill delighted in not following doctor’s orders; we’ll never know whether that kept him alive longer or shortened his life. To the end he followed his own path through life.
Bill was raised in New Millport, PA and graduated with honors from Curwensville Area High School where he excelled in athletics and scholarship. He attended Susquehanna University on a football scholarship but due to one of several sports related concussions was unable to continue the sport he loved. He later graduated from University of Montevallo with honors and went on to receive a Masters of Public Administration with honors from Valdosta State University. He fulfilled his quest of being a coach and history teacher in Irwin County, Ocilla, Georgia. For reasons truly only known to himself he left teaching for a career in the insurance and trucking industry until his retirement to La Marque, Texas to be near his parents in their final years.
At his request there will be no ceremony at this time but his ashes will be returned to Clearfield County, Pennsylvania to be with his Mother, Caroline Douglas Billotte, and his Father, William J. Billotte, who preceded him in death. His former wife and mother of his two sons, Patricia Murray of Ocilla, Georgia also preceded him in death. He leaves behind two sons William Guy Billotte of Vienna, VA and Robert Elmer Billotte of Ocilla, GA. He is also survived by his older brother Stanley T. Billotte and his wife Roberta of Kearney, MO and his younger brother Stephen D. Billotte and his wife Lynn Knox of Galveston, TX plus many cousins who will miss him.
