Wanda Ruth Gonzales
On Thursday July 5, 2018, Wanda (TaTa) Gonzales – Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Aunt – passed away at the age of 69 years.
Wanda was born on June 14, 1949 in Palacios, Texas to the late John Harry Aoughsten and Dollie Pauline Williams Koopmann.
Wanda was a 1967 graduate of Palacios High School. She married Daniel Sanchez Gonzales Jr. on her birthday in 1969 and started a family shortly after.
Wanda was a longtime employee of American National Insurance Company in Galveston from 1971 to 1990, and then worked at UTMB Galveston until she retired in 2008.
Wanda is survived by her daughter Danette Aoughsten Gonzales of La Marque, Texas, her son and daughter in law Daniel (Trey) Aoughsten Gonzales and Vanessa Gonzales of Washington D.C., as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Illa Raye and Edward Jalufka of Palacios, Texas.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Eddie Fritz (Sarge) Koopmann of Palacios, Texas, her two sisters Martha Louise Seaman of Bayou La Batre, Alabama, and Dottie Lee Epperson of Galveston, Texas.
Wanda is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren; Deanna Ruth Gonzales, Caleb Daniel Gonzales, Gillian Rae Gonzales, and Rachel Danielle Gonzales, as well as her four great grandchildren, Matthias Gonzales and Lalani, Sata, and Daviana Gomez.
Family members also missing Wanda include: Her sister-in-law Yolanda Robertson, niece Jessica Robertson, and great-nephew Anthony Robertson, also her nephew Samuel (Gilbert) Epperson Jr. and family as well as numerous other family, friends, and acquaintances.
A private ceremony, for family members, followed by interment will occur later in Palacios, TX.
