Walter Ray Henderson Sr.
Walter Ray Henderson Sr, 68, was born December 21, 1950 in Romayor, Texas to Cleophis and Willie Mae (Scott) Henderson. He passed away on May 25, 2019.
Walter grew up in Hitchcock Texas and attended Hitchcock public schools, graduating from Hitchcock High School in 1970. Walter was employed at Bob Pagan Ford in 1970 and worked as an automotive mechanic for almost 40 years, retiring in 2009. On February 18, 1970, Walter married his true love Shirley Ruth Henderson. Together they shared 36 years of marriage. Their union produced 7 children.
Walter and Shirley shared many happy memories during their marriage, but most important to them was learning about their Heavenly Father Jehovah and teaching others about His Word the Bible and His Kingdom. Walter dedicated his life to Jehovah God and was baptized on May 4, 1985.Walter and Shirley taught their children about Jehovah as they all attended the Hitchcock Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses together for many years.
Walter, affectionately known by his brothers and sisters as “Chubby” and “Bampy” by his grandchildren, was a man of respect who worked hard to provide for his family. He loved his work as an auto mechanic and would often correctly diagnose a vehicle just by listening to it. Walter enjoyed watching the rodeo, auto racing, and assembling model cars. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, wife Shirley Ruth Henderson, son Walter Ray Henderson Jr, and daughter Amanda Rejoice Henderson.
