Walter Earl Reed
Walter Earl Reed, affectionately known as “Sonny” was born in Galveston, Tx., September 22, 1949 to Addie Mae Reed. He confessed his life to Christ at a young age. Sonny was a devoted brother, uncle, and friend. He attended schools in the Kendleton ISD, and after graduation moved back to Galveston where he remained. Sonny worked for the City of Galveston Water Department and later for Galveston Cotton Exchange for 15 years. In his past time he enjoyed fishing, spending time talking, laughing, and playing dominoes and cards with his friends. Sonny departed this life June 5, 2013 after a short illness.
He is preceded in death by his devoted friend Helena Cola, Mother Addie Mae Reed, his Uncle Willie Reed, and Nephew Christopher Menefee. He leaves to mourn his passing his bothers: Larry Shankle, James Shankle, Sylvester (Delores) Reed, Phillip Jones, Bobby Reed, Curtis Reed. Sisters, Blanche (James) Menefee, Brenda (Ronnie) Toatley, Patsi Woods. Nieces; Kimberly Reed-Anderson, Barshonia Reed, Brandi Henley, Taylor White, LaKeia Reed, Kenadee Reed, Kathy Reed. Nephews; Sylvester Reed, Jr., Varian Woods, James Menefee, Jr., Christopher Menefee, Sterling Menefee. Devoted aunt Justine Young, cousins Katina Young and Kenneth Young, devoted friends Gail Jacquet and Tom Stevens and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive guests for a Public Viewing, Monday, June 10, 2013 from 9AM until 1PM at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas 77591. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 1PM also at Carnes Funeral Home. Memorial can be sent to the funeral home.
