Virginia Diaz

Virginia Landa Diaz age 85 passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, December 4, 2014 at her residence in La Marque. The Funeral Mass is at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque, Father Chacko Puthumayil celebrant.  Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home 409-765-8080. The family will receive visitors at Carnes Funeral Home- 3100 I-45 N in Texas City from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday where a rosary will be recited at 6:30pm.

Virginia was born August 19, 1929 in Driscoll, Texas to Lorenzo Landa and Luz Sauceda Landa. She was a devoted wife, other, sister and grandmother. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She loved to play Bingo, cooking, shopping, especially at J.C. Penny, her favorite store. She enjoyed working in her yard and she adored her grand, great and great-great grandchildren whom she cared for diligently.

Preceded in death by her parents,  and her husband Adrian Diaz, Sr; survivors include daughters, Irma Rodriguez and husband Nick of Robstown, Sylvia Alvarado and husband Reverend Samuel Alvarado of La Marque and Cynthia Foley and Dave Garcia of Texas City; sons, Noe Diaz and wife Mary of Texas City, Adrian Diaz, Jr. and wife Gloria of Texas City, Richard Diaz and wife Sally of La Marque, Robert Diaz and wife Rosemary of La Marque, Randy McCoy and wife Ayesha of La Marque and Ricky McCoy and wife Jenny of League City; sister, Jesusa Mungia and husband Francisco of Robstown; brother, Juan Landa and wife Maria of Corpus Christi; 24 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers are Randy McCoy, Ricky McCoy, Eric Diaz, Robert Diaz, Jr., Adrian Diaz, III, Marcus Diaz, Arthur Castaneda, III, Jeremy Alvarado, Michael Diaz and Nick Rodriguez, IV.

The family would like to thank her granddaughter Gina Alvarado for the special care given to Mrs. Diaz and to the Heart to Heart Hospice nurses Patti Savage and Donnica Pierre.
