Virginia Rae Hammond Jolly passed away peacefully on June 29th at the age of 82. She was born February 9, 1936 to the late Hearl and Ruby Hammond of Fayetteville Arkansas where she spent her early years, attending high school and the University of Arkansas.
Virginia (Gigi as she was known to many of her friends) was a beautiful person inside and out. She gave generously to everyone that she met and her kindness and sparkle will be missed dearly. She truly loved people and enjoyed her membership in many groups, including her sorority Pi Beta Phi. Every year for the last six years, she spent a week in New York with her sorority alumni group, seeing plays and enjoying all the museums and restaurants which she loved.
Her family, friends and all of her dogs were the loves of her life. She loved cooking and entertaining them all; making sure they all had enough to eat! She was a teacher in her early years and often reminisced about how much she loved that part of her life.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband Robert (Bob) Daniel Jolly Sr., of 60 years, her daughter Deborah Jolly, her grandsons Robert (Trey) Daniel Jolly III (Charity), Taylor (Amy) and Nathan, two great grandsons, Liam and Robin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her son, Robert (Dan) Daniel Jolly Jr., predeceased her in 2016 and we celebrate that she is finally reunited with him, her parents and loved ones.
We want the thank all the wonderful caregivers and friends that loved Virginia over the years and especially to her niece Betsy for the love and care she gave her this last year. Thanks also to the staff at Lake Travis Independent Living who made Virginia and Bob feel at home after losing their home to Hurricane Harvey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Houston Humane Society at 14700 Almeda Rd in Houston Tx. 77053 or a charity of your choice.
