Virginia Wright

The Lord has given and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Virginia Dobbins Wright, 74, of La Marque, TX departed this earthly life peacefully at home in her sleep on May 17, 2017.   She was born in East Bernard, TX on January 12, 1943 to Reverend Edgar H. and Lucile Dickerson Dobbins. She was the oldest of five sisters, Florence Marie Phenix, Darlene Greene, Brenda Gale Palmer and Sharon Dobbins.

She was married to Allen W. Wright for 50 years until he passed in 2010. Virginia wore many hats; she was a pillar of her community and the epitome of a virtuous woman.  She was M.O.M., mother of many, serving as Pastor of Jesus Is Lord Word of Truth Ministry for 23 years, following in the footsteps of her father. Virginia was a dedicated servant to the Ministry of Jesus Christ, helping all that she could in many ways.                        

She was a self-employed owner and operator of Hair So New Beauty Salon for many years until she retired.

Virginia, known as “Aunt Ginny” to her nieces and nephews, was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; siblings, Florence Phenix and Brenda Palmer and several nieces and   nephews.

She is survived by her children; Brandon Wright, Sheila Wright Roundtree (Milton), Kelvin Wright (Valerie), Jeffery Wright (Makiesha) and Goddaughter Bonnie Walker; grandchildren,   Kelsey Wright, Shemil Roundtree, Kameron Wright, Jeffery Wright Jr., Quevis Wright, Seth Wright and Lexi Dunn; great grandchildren, godchildren, siblings and a host of nieces,      nephews, cousins, friends and church Family.

 A Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017   between 4:00-8:00PM with A Gathering with Food, Friends and Family during the Visitation. These Events will take place at Carnes Funeral Home 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, TX. 77591. Memorials may be sent to the Funeral Home.

Graveside Services will take place on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX.  Apostle D. Jerome Kidd will preside as the Officiant for both Services.
