Umphrey McKinney

Umphrey Ernest (Mac) McKinney, 92,  was born September 24, 1922 in Waco, TX to Oma and Umphrey Earl McKinney and died of cancer Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Houston.

Mac was married to Margaret Hendricks Keith for fifty years. He was introduced to her by her brother, his classmate  at Texas A&M during World War II. He graduated from A&M in 1944. He attended Officer Training School with this classmate and served in the Sixth Signal Corp. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer at Union Carbide, NASA, and Stubbs-Overbeck.

After a divorce, Mac began an 18 year relationship with the second love of his life, Martha Morris. He is survived by Martha Morris, two daughters, Alison McKinney and Carolyn Parsons, two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Umphrey Ernest maintained an interest in engineering projects, poring over the newspaper, senior activities, mentoring two boys, looking out for his family, and much, much more. We will cherish our memories of him, his intelligence, his love, and kindness.

A remembrance will be held Sunday, May 17th, at Noah's Ark Restaurant, 4438 Boulevard St., Bacliff, TX at the end of 646, starting at 9:30 am
