Trula Mae Mickens
Trula Mae Mickens went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2012, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas, after a lengthy illness. She was born July 26, 1937 in New Iberia, Louisiana, to Junius and Septima Provost.
Mrs. Mickens was a resident of Hitchcock for over 40 years. "Truly" (as she was affectionately known by so many) was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Steven Mickens, two brothers, Andrew and Murphy Provost, a brother in law, Eldridge Boutte, a son, Charles Bernard III, as well as an great grandchild, Teelan Turner.
Survivors include her sister, Annette Provost (New Iberia, La.), daughters, Yolanda Turner (League City), and Valencia Bernard (Texas City). Grandchildren, Thaddeus, Brittany, Briaunna, Troy, Destonei, Kymberli, Kirsten, and Kend'l. Four great-grandchildren, Natalia Jones, Chiina Sells, and Paris and Donald Maxey. A devoted sister-in-law/friend, Anna Alexander (Galveston), and a host of relatives and friends.
Home going services will be held Wednesday, September 5th at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas. Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Forest Park East Cemetery, in League City, Texas. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Cantu, and Nurses Anita, Juanita, and Miguel of the 3rd floor ICU, Bill Madeira of Biotronik, and an additional thanks to H.I.S. Ministries, Debra Overshine and Minerva McAfee for their kindness and friendship.
