Troy Lynn Bourgeois
July 31, 1963, God sent a handsome son to Carol Sr. and Nellie Mae Bourgeois in Jeanerette, Louisiana. They named their precious gift, Troy Lynn Bourgeois. This was the beginning of a life that would grow up to share, mentor, nurture and influence many others. He was taught the importance of unconditional family love at an early age. He accepted Christ at a young age at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Jeanerette, Louisiana.
Troy was educated in the Public Schools System in Iberia Parish. While in high school, he was an Honor Student, trumpet player in the band and a Drum Major. He was a proud graduate of Jeanerette High School Class of 1981. After graduation Troy attended University of Southwestern Louisiana and the University of Washington. He gave valiant service to the United States Army for three years being honorably discharged.
Troy was united in Holy Matrimony to his childhood friend, Gerselda Solco on June 6, 1992. In 1994, they joined Greater St. Matthews Church where they grew closer to the Lord. He served diligently as Deacon, Support Warrior, Member of the Mighty Men and Mass Choir, Brotherhood, Teacher for New Members Class #3 and Matron of the Youth Choir.
Troy had a strong work ethic and he did not mind working hard to provide for his family. He gave valuable service as an employee of Gulf States, Inc. in Pasadena, Galveston Independent School District and the University of Texas Medical Branch as a Security Officer. He was currently a dutiful employee with the City of Texas City.
He had a wonderful persona and many admired his character. He was a noble man of integrity who always put others first. He was very involved in his son’s life. He loved cooking especially Bar-be-que, hosting family celebrations, administering communion to the sick and shut in, making people laugh, and sharing encouraging words with others. He truly enjoyed watching his favorite teams play: Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers. He was an awesome speaker and writer. He usually ended his conversations with “I Love You” and his father’s famous saying, “God Bless You.”
On Saturday, April 4, 2015, God called his child home. He is preceded in death by his father Carol Bourgeois, Sr., a great–aunt, Alberta Loston, his mother-in-law, Doris Feast Solco, father-in-law, Wellington Solco and other loved ones.
Left to celebrate his legacy of Christian values and family devotion are his devoted wife of 22 ½ years, Gerselda Bourgeois; his children Troy Lynn Bourgeois, II, Delwin Bourgeois and Quantella Bourgeois; mother, Nellie Mae Bourgeois; 7 Grandchildren; siblings, Carol Bourgeois, Jr. (Carmen), Loretta Bourgeois, Berlyn Glaude (Irvin ); Russell Bourgeois (Stephanie) and Quentin Bourgeois (Ella); brothers and sisters-in-Law: Rayford Gordon and Joe Solco, Curtis Gordon (Lois), Cynthia Jones and Jewelene Crawford; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, co-workers, friends and his Greater St. Matthews Church Family.
