Tony "Bones" Romero Sr.
Tony Romero Sr was born in Galveston, Tx on July 16, 1947. He passed away Sunday morning, July 27, 2014 at the age of 67, at Mainland Center Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Farris and Vicenta Farris, niece Annie Marie Cruz, and father-in-law, Francisco Zamora.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Patsy) Romero of 34 years, sons, Tony Romero Jr., Luis Romero, only grandchild, Valerie Romero, brother, Herman Farris, and sisters, Annie G. Cruz and Lena Trammell, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Tony was a longshoreman for 22 years with ILA Local 20, Galveston, worked at Lowe’s in Texas City for 6 years and worked part-time at Dollar General for 7 years.
He enjoyed coaching Little League for years when his sons were younger and had been enjoying his monthly bus trip to the casinos. Tony was a sports lover. He liked spending time outside doing yard work and barbequing. He loved spending time with family and especially his “Baby” loving granddaughter, Valerie. He was a hardworking man that was devoted to his family. He will truly be missed by the people who loved him.
The Romero family would like to express thanks to the ICU staff at Mainland Center Hospital, Dr. Dipsu Patel, and Dr. Bich Nguyen for their care.
Pallbearers: Michael Rios, John M. Richards III, John M. Richards IV, Larry Cruz, Rosendo Rodriguez, and Andres Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers: Herman Farris and Alfred V. Cruz Jr.
Services will be arrangement by Carnes Funeral Home, Texas City.
Visitation: Friday, August 1, 2014 5–8:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. There will be a funeral mass Saturday morning at 11:00 am at St Mary’s of the Miraculous Medal Church, Texas City.
