Thomas “Tommy” Edward Simmons
June 13, 1958 – September 2, 2014
Tommy Simmons, 56, of Texas City, Texas passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Tommy was born and lived all his life in Texas City, TX. He graduated from Texas City High School in 1976 and went on to be a valued team member for almost 40 years at Texas-New Mexico Power Company. He was loved by all who knew him, to the last person, was described as funny, steadfast, and above all, loyal.
Tommy is preceded in death by father, W.C. Simmons and beloved mother, Josephine Simmons, both of Texas City, TX.
He is survived by aunts, Bobbi LaFond and Mary Edwards; step-children, Heather Cowardin, Dannie Choates, Cristy Shaffer and Joey Bolton, and grandchildren, Trystan and Jameson Cowardin, Cash Choates, Logan Shaffer, Emma and William Bolton. He is also survived by many cousins and countless friends, all of whom will mourn his passing.
Pallbearers will be Josh Ward, Ruben Guzman, Randy Chapman, Gary Hupe, Moose Meadows and Larry McCorkle.
The family will greet visitors from 5-7pm, Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Carnes Funeral Home-Texas City, 3100 Gulf Freeway 77591. Funeral Services will be 11am Friday at Carnes Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston, TX where Tommy will be laid to rest next to his mother.
