Tanya  Brown

               On March 18, 2014, Tanya Lynette Keys Brown made her transition from earth to her heavenly home. Tanya was born on July30, 1960 to Laura Keys Johnson and the late Tony Keys. She attended public school in Galveston, where she was a member of the Ball High School Whirlette and Tornette dancing team and a 1978 graduate of Ball High School.  After graduation, Tanya attended Barbizon School of Modeling in Houston and became a Professional Model. Also, she went back to school to become a Licenses Nail Technician. Tanya was employed with American National, UTMB, Child Care Management Services and Texas First Bank until her health failed. She loved to cook, bake, love-love shopping and going to the hair salon. Tanya united with Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Timothy Allen, Sr. in 2004.

               Tanya was preceded in death by her father: Tony Keys Jr.; brother: Joseph B. Keys; Grandmother: Cedele Allen and uncle, Garrett N. Harvey. She leaves behind a loving and devoted husband and caregiver, Joseph “Little Boogie” Woods; loving sons: David J. Brown II (Tierra) and Dylan J. Brown (Talan); grandchildren, Skylar, Mar’nijah, Destiny, and Parish; devoted and loving mother, Laura Keys Johnson of Texas City; sister: Annemarie Render of Atlanta; brother: Gerald Lindsey (Evelyn) of Beaumont; aunts: Sandy Magee-Harvey of Webster, Shirley Johnson (Thomas Sr) of Brenham, Joyce Pines of Galveston; uncle: Sammie Williams (Alpha) of Houston; Special nieces/nephews: Brittany and Kyla Render of Atlanta and Joseph and Dominic Keys of Austin; Special cousins: Stephen Hines (Jennifer), Joan Mack, Pamela Luckett, Cedric Williams of Houston, Thomas Johnson Jr. (Sharon) of Lewisville, Veronica Cloud (Tony) of Brenham, Latoya Luckett of Atlanta; other nephews and nieces: Timothy II, Sean, Felix II, JR, Sharanetta, Michael Jr, Jermetra, Ira IV, Shalonza, Bahiyyah, Alkisha, Asim, Amahad, Harrison, Dewallace, Prinze, Zepahia and a host of other great nephews and nieces.             Viewing will be Friday March 28, 2014, from 5PM – 8PM, at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas. Services will be held, Saturday morning, March 29, 2014, at 10 AM, at Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 5202 Ave. K., Galveston, Texas. Reverend Timothy Allen, Sr. will officiate the service. Burial will follow immediately after, at Forest Park East Cemetery, in Webster, Texas.
