Stephen Edward Choate
Stephen Edward Choate, 57, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013. Steve was born on June 14, 1956 to Tommy R. Choate, Sr. and Christine Meyers Choate in Texas City, Texas. Steve was employed by Texas City Refinery/Valero for 30 plus years until his retirement. Steve grew up in Texas City spending countless hours on the water where he enjoyed skiing and fishing with his Dad, brother, Tommy and many friends. There are great memories for lifelong friends who were raised at the Choate house. Steve developed a passion for fast motorcycles, boats and cars and in later years enjoyed being outdoors with his dogs as his faithful companions.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy R. Choate, Sr. and Christine Meyers Choate, grandparents, Seibert Field and Jebbie Choate, Dolphy and Alta Myers.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Stephenie Adkins and husband Steven, and Courtney Choate; brother, Tommy Choate, Jr. and wife, Thea; brother, Michael Choate; sister, Tovana Brocker and husband, William; stepsons, Jeremy and Jeffrey Kauffman; grandchildren Rylea and Blake Adkins; nieces and nephews, Lauren and Megan Choate, Samantha Foltz, Taylor Choate, and Martin and Jonathan Monte; beloved aunts, Nettie Philips, Silvia Mac Roberts, Betty Inman; companion, Thelma Kiser and many other loving family members and friends. Steve loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed. May we keep Steve forever in our hearts as we celebrate his memory today and everyday.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 beginning at noon followed by the Funeral Services at 2:00 PM. Both services will be held in the chapel of Carnes Funeral Home 3100 Gulf Freeway Texas City, TX 77591. Interment will immediately follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, Webster, Texas. Dorthea Lewis Jones is the Funeral Director assisting the Choate family. Memorials may be sent to the Funeral Home.
