Shirley Ann Finch Green
Shirley Ann Finch Green passed from this life on Saturday, March 27, 2021.
She was born on June 4, 1935 to Alice Catherine Holder Finch and Claude Birk Finch in Austin, Texas.
Both of her parents died at an early age and Shirley who was around 12 years old at the time was sent to live with her father’s cousin, Loren Munro and his wife Margie Munro.
Loren and Margie moved Shirley from Austin, Texas to Englewood, California where Loren worked for the Lipton Tea Company. Shirley went to school and graduated from high school in Englewood in 1952. It was there that Shirley met Frank Green Jr. at a church function. Frank was stationed in the Navy in San Diego . Shirley and Frank were married on March 2, 1953 in California. After he returned from the war in Korea, they traveled back to Texas to live and raise their family.
The first of their children, Cynthia , was born in September 1954, followed by Lorrie in June of 1956 and Frank III in August 1961. They lived for a short while in Belton, Texas and then moved to South Houston and then Friendswood and finally Texas City where Frank was a bank executive.
Shirley spent most of her life as a wife, mother and home maker, but following the death of her husband, Frank, in 1981, she went to work for Bailey, Meyer and Baty Insurance Company.
One of her greatest joys was becoming a grandmother to Stephen, Alicia, Brad, Zachary, Kevin, Cori and Brian. A great-grandmother to Will, Lauren, Tori, Chase and Trenton, Zoey, Jon William and Kaelyn. She also was a great-great grandmother to Xander.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Frank J. Green Jr. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Fontenot (Rollis), Lorrie Koster (Bill), Frank Green III. Her grandchildren, Stephen Fuselier, Alicia Fuselier, Brad Fuselier, Zachary Koster, Kevin Koster, Corrine Green, Brian Green and all her many great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00pm, Saturday, April 17th at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City TX 77591. The family of Shirley Green wishes to express our sincere thanks for flowers and other expressions of love during our time of bereavement.
