Ruby Joubert Williams “Miss Ruby”
Ruby Joubert Williams, age 74, of Texas City, Texas departed this life on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.
Ruby was born April 24, 1943 in Plaisance, Louisiana. She was the third child of Joseph and Gustavia Joubert. Ruby grew up in Plaisance and Opelousas Louisiana She attended public schools in Plaisance and graduated from Plaisance High School. She moved to Texas after graduation.
In Texas City, she began a career at UTMB and Mainland Medical Center that lasted for more than 20 years. Ruby also worked for College of the Mainland for 14 years, and at Jacks Soul Food for an additional 11. She married the love of her life, General Lee Jackson, Sr and together they raised two children.
Ruby accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. In the early 70’s, she joined Progressive Baptist Church where she served under the pastorage of the late Reverend M.C. Bridges. She continued to serve under Reverend Jonathan Steele, Sr. She was very dedicated to the church and served as a member of the Mission.
In the 1980’s she was united in marriage to the late Harold Williams, Sr. Together they ran the Williams Service Center.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Gustavia Joubert; her brothers, Carroll Joubert, Sr., Robert Joubert, and Jack Joubert; and her sister Myrtle Joubert.
To cherish her memories, Ruby leaves behind her sister, Debbie (Ediie) Jacobs of League City; Sons, Michael W. Jackson of Texas City and General L. Jackson, Jr. of La Marque; five grandchildren: Breana Jackson, Jasmine Jackson, Jayden Jackson, Herschel Cooper, and Gerikos Williams-Jackson; Great Granddaughter, Deauney Thomas; God-Daughter, La Quinta Branch; Special Friends; Martha Richardson, Emma Joubert, Annie Jean Jackson, Florence Burton, Betty Francis Collins; and many other relatives and friends.
A Public Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a Service to Celebrate Her Life at 12:00 Noon. Both Services will be held at Progressive Baptist Church 5820 Hwy 1765 Texas City, TX 77591. Burial will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Cemetery, Hitchcock, TX. Reverend Jonathan Steel, Sr. will officiate the Services. Memorials will be sent to Carnes Funeral Home 3100 Gulf Freeway Texas City, TX 77591.
