Roderick Terril Young
Roderick Terril Young, age 37, passed away on July 2, 2016 in Texas City, Texas. He was the husband of Melissa Rivera Young. They shared 19 wonderful years together. Born in Galveston, Texas on July 26, 1978, he was the son of Rocshell Dickey, Bobby Joe Young, and Howard Long. He attended school in Texas City ISD through 10th grade, graduating from La Marque High School in 1996; going on to Trade School at DeVry and ITT Tech. He was employed as a Logistics/Hardware Installer & Fuel Truck Operator for Bechtal Construction, and recently returned to truck driving.
He was baptized as a teenager at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church (East) under the late Rev. Henry Ford. Upon his return to the area, he worshipped at Church of True Faith of Texas City. He enjoyed working on computers, hanging out with his family, and riding his motorcycle. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and his huge smile that brought a ray of sunshine to everyone he came in contact with.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Rivera Young, and children – Meilyn Rocshell Young, Roderick Terril Young Jr (Macho), and Ellyana Celine Young. He is predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents, 1 aunt, 5 uncles, and 1 brother.
The funeral service will be held on July 9, 2016 at Greater St. Matthews Church, 6805 Fairwood Rd, Hitchcock, Texas, at 2 pm; returning to the funeral home to be cremated at later time. The viewing/visitation will be held from 12 noon to the time of the service.
