Robert Richard McLawchlin
Robert (Bob) McLawchlin, 65, passed away on September 30, 2016, at his home in Texas City, Texas.
Bob was born on March 20, 1951 to Richard and Dorothy McLawchlin in Galveston, Texas. He was proud to be a BOI and never completely got all of the Galveston Island sand from between his toes, even after a permanent relocation from Galveston to Texas City as a result of Hurricane Ike in 2008.
Bob grew up in Galveston and attended Ball High School. He began work at Todd’s Shipyard as a boilermaker in the early 1970’s. After Todd’s ceased operations, he started a fence business that expanded into remodeling homes, with Bob using the carpenter skills his grandfather had taught him.
Bob loved to hunt and especially fish and as a result, always had great stories to tell. He was a wonderful cook and enjoyed a lifetime of get-togethers with family and friends that were always centered around good food. Bob also had a green thumb and grew some of the best tomatoes and vegetables around and always shared his bounty with others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Rose Marie Luppens and numerous aunts and uncles.
Bob is survived by his wife Sandy (Peacock) McLawchlin, son Jason McLawchlin, niece Kim Luppens, nephew Rick Luppens, his wife Wendy, their son Wyatt, aunt Mary Boudreaux, brother-in-law Glyn Peacock, close friend Cody Zoch and numerous relatives and friends throughout Texas and Louisiana.
Please join the family for a graveside service of remembrance of Bob’s life that will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Forest Park East Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598.
For the graveside service, dress is casual (jeans) or business casual. As you know, Bob would want guests to wear what you would be most comfortable in.
The graveside service will be provided by the Carnes Funeral Home of Texas City.
