Robert grew up in Louisville, Mississippi where he played defense for the Louisville Wildcats in high school. He was chosen for the All-Choctaw Conference football team for 1968 and 1969. He was named to the Honorable Mention list on the Prep All-American 1969 Football Team. He was also listed as Louisville’s Most Valuable Player. In 1969 he signed with Ole Miss and went on to play for them. He and Cheryl have been married since 1983. He was the strongest, most amazing father, husband, and man anyone could ever be. He was the type of man that would take the shirt off his back to help a stranger. He had the biggest heart, an endless love for God, the richest laugh and always had a smile on his face. He treated every person he met as if they were his family. His time on earth was well spent helping anyone he could, cooking some of the most amazing food, teaching us all some amazing lessons, and fishin’ anytime he could. He may be gone from us physically, but his love, warmth, smile, and laugh will remain with us forever in our hearts.
