Robert Ian Wilson
Robert “Ian” Wilson was born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 10, 1946 to Robert and Christine Wilson. He entered Heaven’s gates on February 21, 2017. A friend to everyone, no one was ever a stranger. He loved his children, grandchildren, family, friends, and animals…and we are not sure in which order. He enjoyed surrounding himself in nature, whether on his back porch feeding the squirrels and birds or observing nature in its wonder. His greatest past times involved outside as well…in hunting and fishing all of his life. He was an exceptional cook and was known for his grilling and “cueing” skills and could always be counted on to bring the meat! Ian will always be remembered as someone with a kind and generous heart. He is often remembered as someone who would give the shirt off his back.
He is preceded in death by son, Christopher; brother, Fred; and parents, Robert and Christine Wilson.
He is survived by his daughter, Ryan and husband, Jonathan; son, Robbie and wife, Courtney; brothers, Donald and Duncan; grandchildren, Sprague, Hazel, Mia and Zephaniah; and many other family and friends.
Ian will be honored at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors for his service and dedication to his country, the United States Navy, family and friends.
