Richard Cruse

Richard Lee Cruse, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at UTMB Health Clear Lake Campus Hospital with family by his side to be with the Lord in Heaven.  He was a loving husband to his wife Connie Cruse and they shared 42 wonderful years of adventure and happiness together.

Born in Webb City, Missouri he was the son of Horace Bransford Cruse and Beulah Nancy (Lee) Cruse.  He graduated with a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and worked in the Oil & Gas industry as a senior executive.

He was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity at Missouri S&T, played football for the Missouri S&T Miner’s and held the all-time roster record for most punts blocked, loved music and performed with the trumpet as an accomplished musician.  He enjoyed scuba diving, boating, tennis, golf and watching college and professional football games.

Richard is survived by: his wife Connie Cruse of Friendswood; three children, Janice Miles of Little Rock, Deby (Ray) Palmer of New York City, Shawn (Christine) Birch of Friendswood; three grandchildren, Meredith (Gage) Jennings of The Woodlands, Bryce Evans of League City, Faith Birch of Friendswood; one great-grandchild, Miles Jennings; one niece, Tina Pfeiler; two nephews, Scott Degraffenreid, Russel Degraffenreid. 

Preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Barbara Sue Degraffenreid; brother-in-law, Gerald Degraffenreid.
