Rev. Will Charles Smith, Jr.
Rev. Will Charles Smith, Jr., 59, entered into eternal rest after a brief illness February 18, 2011. He was born on October 7, 1951 to Barbara E. Smith Conley and Will Charles Smith, Sr., in Galveston Texas. He had the distinction of being the first born grandson on both sides of the family.
Rev. Smith moved to Los Angles, California at an early age where he attended Budlong Elementary School, John Muir Jr. High School, Manual Arts High School and Harbor Jr. College. After college he was employed by Continental Acrylics, Inc., as an equipment operator for 18 years before returning to Texas in 1997. He was currently employed by The Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Correctional Officer for five years.
In 2003, Rev. Smith was called to the ministry as a lay speaker in the United Methodist faith where he served diligently. He enjoyed reading the Bible, playing dominos, cooking, sports and watching movies.
Rev. Smith was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara E Conley, and step father Fred C Conley, Sr.; and a brother Kermith Bryan Smith.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Laura Boyce; his father, Will Charles Smith, Sr. (Grace); sisters, Darlene Graves, Delisa Smith, Chanda Mabry (Joe), Odessa Holmes; brothers, Rev. Anthony C. Smith (Earlene), Fred Conley, Jr. as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Public Visitation will be held Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 11:00 AM followed by Funeral Services beginning at 1:00 PM. Both services will be held at Carnes Funeral Home Chapel, 3100 Gulf Freeway North (exit 15) Texas City, TX 77591.
