Rayford D. Harvey
Rayford (Ray) D. Harvey, age 80, of Texas City, died Wednesday May 22, 2019 at home after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Ray was born in Baytown, Texas and was a longtime resident of Texas City. He was a 1957 graduate of Texas City High School, and he worked as a pipe fitter for Union Carbide/Dow until his retirement in 1994. After retirement he worked for a number of years as a hotshot driver, where he continued his love of driving. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Texas City.
Ray was married to Sandra Reed Harvey for 38 years. She preceded him in death in 2014.
He is survived by his children Karen Williams and husband Karl, Randy Harvey and wife Melisa, Megan Harvey, Jason Harvey and wife Eydie, and Mark Harvey. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kyle and Audrey Williams, Erin Sharpe and husband Matthew, Shannon Butler, Rachel Harvey, Alex Moreno and husband Matt, Christian Armstrong, Nathaniel, Evan, and Andrew Harvey. Great grandchildren Annalise and Malick Moreno, and Brayton Sharpe.
Ray is also survived by his brother Naurice Harvey and wife Sandra, brother Kenneth Harvey, sister Beverly Platt and husband James Earl, sister Everlou Marsh and husband Steve, sister Delores Brandon, sister Angie Galloway, and brother-in-law Scott Reed and wife Pat.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10AM Wednesday, May 29th at Carnes Funeral Home Rev. Dennis Johns and Rev. Mark King officiating. Burial will be held at Antioch Cemetery in Lovelady, TX at 3pm Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm Tuesday May 28th at the funeral home.
