Phillip Eason
Phillip “Mike” Eason – husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle – died on
Tuesday December 17th, 2019 at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston, TX
after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 67 years old.
 
Mike was born on May 17th, 1952 in Childress, TX to father Wayland Eason and
mother Billie Eason, who predeceased him. He grew up in a large family with four
brothers and one sister.
 
Mike married high school sweetheart Barbara Taylor on May 19th, 1972 in
Childress, TX. After graduating Childress High School Mike took a position with
Lancer Mobile Homes in Childress, TX where he worked from 1971 to 1988. Mike
also was co-owner of a construction business G&E Drywall with longtime friend
Sonny Galyean from 1985 to 1995. Mike’s professional career started in Amarillo,
TX at Central Claims Service under the guidance & direction of Dave and Edith
Miles in 1989. Mike worked for Central Claims Service, Continental Insurance,
Wardlaw Claims Service and lastly Allcat Claims Service where Mike retired due to
being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma cancer in 2012.
 
Mike was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved the company of
his family and friends. Mike will be remembered for his wit, sense of humor,
travel, a good cigar and love of cooking (indoor & outdoor). Most who had the
pleasure of knowing Mike will remember him being someone with strong minded
opinions.
 
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Wayland & Billie Eason; brother Voy
Eason & sister-in-law Jane Eason; brother-in-law Danny Soto.
 
Mike is survived by wife of 47 years Barbara Eason.

Son: Taylor Eason & wife Natasha Eason Childress, TX
 
Grandchildren: Hannah Smith, Keegan Smith, Emma Eason & Ella Eason all of
Childress, TX.
Brother: Ronnie Eason & wife Jody Eason of Corpus Christi, TX
Brother: Danny Eason & wife Sandy Eason of Hardscabble Corner, VT
Brother: Jimbo Eason of Childress, TX
Sister: Debra Soto of Childress, TX
 
At his request, his body was donated to the University of Texas Health Science
Center of Houston for the advancement of science. In lieu of flowers the family
requests donations be made in memory of Phillip “Mike” Eason to MD Anderson

Memorial service celebrating the life of Mike will be held at Trinity Fellowship
Church Chapel @ 5000 Hollywood Rd, Amarillo, TX 79118 @ 2:00 pm on January
11th, 2020. Officiated by Pastor Larry Miles, lifelong friend of 57 years.
