Patrick Charles Jay

Patrick Jay

Patrick Charles Jay 58 departed from this world Thursday August 30th, 2018 to be with our Lord, after a courageous fight with illness. Patrick was a native Galvestonian (B.O.I. as he liked to say) who never dreamt of leaving his Island home. He was born to William Thomas Jay Sr & Marilyn Corey Jay on June 23, 1960 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Galveston Texas. He graduated in 1979 from Ball High School in Galveston TX. Patrick always loved the ocean and outdoors. In his youth he was an avid surfer, enjoyed fishing, barbecuing & spending time with his family & friends. A true islander & lover of the Gulf, he could be found through the years walking or riding along the Seawall on his Cruiser bike, admiring the ocean & Island that were both so much a part of him. He was loved by many and never met a stranger. His sharp wit & teasing character endeared him to those that crossed his path. His quick easy laugh and gentle nature made him easy to approach. His willingness to lend a helping hand kept him often sought by many.

As a young man Patrick worked in the construction industry. Over the years, this made him a jack of all trades & master of many. He was undeniably a man that marched to the beat of his own drum. Nothing made him happier than making his own rules. He was an excellent father, always working to instill in his daughter the same generous, honest & humble qualities that his free spirit and easy going nature embarked upon his soul. More than anything he loved his family and friends and if they were happy, so was he. Those who knew Patrick, will remember him fondly with always a beer in his hand and smile upon his face.

Patrick is preceded in death by his father William Thomas Jay Sr of Galveston TX. He is survived by his daughter Kristen Nicole Jay of La Porte TX and her mother Anne Rodwell of Galveston TX, his mother Marilyn Jay Fields of Rosharon TX, sisters, Kathy Gammill & her husband Buel Gammill of Missouri City TX, Christine Sewell & her husband Wayne Sewell of Talladega Alabama, Belinda Jay of Texas City TX. Brother, William Jay & his wife Christie Jay of Rosharon TX, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
