She married Fred Escudier during her third year of college. They moved to a small apartment on the south side of Chicago, where they began to produce their five “pleasant surprises.” After graduating to a large bungalow in west Chicago, the family relocated to Galveston, Texas, where Patricia made many friends and was a valued member of the community.
Patricia and Fred quickly embraced Galveston culture, learning to love salsa, Mexican food and beer. In Galveston, Patricia was an active member of the League of Woman Voters. She spent a great deal of time nurturing her five children, their many friends, and teaching her husband to pick up his socks. Patricia started a new career in life when she helped her husband manage their Western Auto Stores. After that, she worked for American National Insurance Company (ANICO) where she made many new friends.
Throughout her life, Patricia was a passionate and well-read individual. She read to her children from a very young age, installing in them a love of reading, the virtues of hard work, compassion and good citizenship. Patricia loved to have fun and enjoyed listening to music and dancing. Her family and friends have many fond memories of the good times they shared with Patricia. They spent many hours gathered around her kitchen table discussing life and having fun.
