Ortrud  McCorkle
Trudy McCorkle, a long-time resident of the
Houston area, passed away in her sleep on Aug. 19.
Born in 1925 in Easthampton MA., and grew up in State
College, PA. Trudy spent almost 60 years in the Chicago area
where she received her LPN degree at Oakton Community
College in 1974. She was employed at Oakton Pavillion and
worked as a geriatric nurse there for 30 years before retiring
at age 79.
Trudy was a member of the U.S. WWII Nursing Cadet Corps
for 6 yrs. For more than 10 years worked at Harmswood
Stable running the front desk. She was also a Girl Scout troop
leader, and served on the Skokie Valley Hospital Auxillary for
many years organizing the events and fundraising.
Trudy loved to travel to see family and friends all over the
world. She enjoyed horse shows, state fairs, and sports
competitions. She loved going and doing. Most of all she
enjoyed being outside, enjoying God’s creation. Trudy will be
remembered by her love for her family and wonderful smile
that lit up the room wherever she went. After retiring she
moved to Houston where she lived the last 14 years. She lived a
full life of 93 years!
She was preceded in death by her brother Anselm Wurfl of
Carlisle, PA.
Trudy is survived by her daughter Cheryl McCorkle;
daughter Debbie Collings and her husband Willie; Grandson
David and Stephanie, great-grandsons Josh and Zac;
Grandson Chris and Kelly, great grandchildren Hannah and
Jake; granddaughter Heidi; daughter Tricia Heuston and her
husband Greg; and daughter Susan Abbott and her husband
Derek, granddaughter Stephanie and Tommy, great
grandchildren Alex and Rosalie, grandsons Austin and Ethan.

There will be a celebration of her life on
