Sister Oralean Harris Whitfield was born in Brenham, TX on December 14, 1932 to the late Eddie Harris, Sr. and Lizzie Alcorn.

Sister Whitfield was united in holy matrimony to the late Deacon Willie “Bill” Whitfield, Sr. and to this union 9 children were born.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Old Gay Hill Baptist Church in Brenham, Texas. She later united with Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Dickinson, TX under the leadership of Pastor E. Wisby, Sr. and remained a faithful member until her death.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Harris, Sr. and Lizzie Alcorn; her husband, Deacon Willie Whitfield, Sr.; sisters, Norma Jean Gaines and Hazel Perry.
Sister Whitfield is survived by her children, Carolyn Jackson (Kenny), Vera Whitfield, Billie Mathews, Charles Whitfield (Eletha), Carla Bell (David), Vickie Whitfield, Jacqueline Whitfield, Calvin Whitfield (Paula) and Chandra Harper; 27 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Toliver, Tempie Moore, Joyce Harris and Vernessa Johnson (Mike); brother, Eddie Harris, Jr.( Mary); two devoted nieces, Deborah Sullivan (Tommy) and Pennie Gaines. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives; and many friends.

A Public Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM followed by Funeral Services at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 29, 2014. Both services will be held at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church 1725 Hwy 3 League City, TX. Burial will follow at Grace Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX. Dr. William H. King, III, Pastor will conduct the services. Memorials may be sent to Carnes Funeral Home 3100 Gulf Freeway Texas City, TX 77591. Dorthea Lewis Jones is the Family Funeral Director.
