Natha LaDay

Natha Lee Laday, 74 years old, passed away July 8, 2017 at Mainland Medical Center Hospital in Texas City, TX.  Her daughters Gia and Kimberly, as well as her son-in-law Gilbert, were by her side as she transitioned on to be with the Lord. 

She was born November 18th, 1942 in Ville Platte, LA. to Lawrence Laday and Ora Lee Hickerson.

Natha attended schools in Galveston, Texas graduating with The Class of 1960 from Central High School.

She retired from Sears after many years of service.  She later worked as an Instructional Aide with Texas City ISD at Levi Fry Intermediate School until her retirement in May 2016 due to health reasons with 15 years of service. 

She was baptized at an early age in Ville Platte, Louisiana.  Her family later moved to Galveston, Texas and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church.  She later moved to Texas City and moved her membership to Greater Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Maxey where she served with the Youth Department.

Natha was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Murphy Miles; sister, Jerry Beck Smith; son, Casey Laday, Sr.; step mother, Mable Laday and God Mother, Evelyn Mitchell. 

She is survived by her daughters, Gia Robinson (Gilbert) from Texas City, TX and Kimberly Lazare (Troy) from La Marque, TX; her daughter-in-law Phyllis Laday from Angleton, TX; brother, Lawrence Laday (Jacqueline Ray) from Texas City, TX; sister, Ora Lee Laday from Texas City, TX and aunts Edna Bluain from Altadena, CA and Maxine Hickerson from Ville Platte, LA.; step sisters, Linda Robinson(Jimmy) and Brenda Bradley.  Natha is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a grand dog, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She also leaves behind her God Daughters; Gia Henley and LaShonda Cail; her God Siblings; Delores Hare, Faye and Rick.

Visitation will be Friday, July 14th, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City.  A wake service will follow the visitation beginning at 7:00pm.   Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 15th, 2017.  Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, Texas City, TX with Pastor Robert Maxey officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX. 

Friends will be received at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church.
