Mozelle Lawrence

Mozelle Shipp Lawrence was born in Minden, Texas on July 23, 1918.  She passed away at the age of 96 on January 23, 2015.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 1995.

She is survived by her son, Jack Lawrence, Jr. and wife Sally; daughters, Barbara Gilbert and husband Mike, and Margaret Couvillon, all of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Greg and Steve Lawrence of California, David Evans of Nassau Bay, Texas, Julie Stuhlreyer and husband Tim of Humble, Texas; great- grandchildren, Ryan Lawrence, Taryn and Chase Lawrence , Trevor and Keaton Evans, Riley and Max Stuhlreyer and many nieces and nephews.

Mozelle was a long time resident of Texas City, Texas and an active member of First Baptist Church where she spent many years as a Sunday School teacher for 7 year olds.  In 1986, she and husband Jack relocated to Nassau Bay, Texas.  She moved her church membership to Nassau Bay Baptist Church where she was an active member for over twenty years.  She loved her church family and being involved with church activities.

Her sweet nature, quiet spirit, and love of God were part of her character. She had a genuine laugh and a smile that would light up a room.  She was an inspiration to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many others who were fortunate to have known her.  She loved spending time with her family, cooking, and traveling whenever the opportunity arose. She was always a joy to be with.  To know her was to love her and our memories of her will live on.  She will be greatly missed by her family.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Lucy Robinson, her friend and caregiver for the past three years.  We also give thanks to Diane Cook who also assisted with Mother’s care.  We want to acknowledge Trina and Monica with Texas Home Health Hospice.  We thank them all for their care, love and support of our Mother.

Pallbearers are Steve Lawrence, David Evans, Ryan Lawrence, Trevor Evans, Keaton Evans and Bob Davenport.
