Mona Lisa Scott

Mona Lisa Bailey Scott was born to the late Myrtle Jenkins and Charles Bailey on November 12, 1951 in Port Arthur, Texas.

She attended and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, TX.  Following graduation Mona went to the Job Corps.  She later moved to Houston, Texas to pursue a career in cosmetology at Franklin Beauty School.  Her favorite pass time after her illness began was hanging out at the Senior Center where she loved to play games and meet new people.

On January 14, 2013, Mona Lisa moved from labor to reward while a patient at the La Hacienda Nursing Center.  Her final months were spent at La Hacienda Nursing Center where she enjoyed visits from family and friends.  She had a special love for her staff of caregivers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Andrae Jenkins.

Moving from life to eternity she leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter, Mavis Ashley Scott, and a favorite granddaughter, Aniya Jenkins; sister, Michelle Jenkins Hooks; Brother, Michael Jenkins;  nephews, Aubrum Jamal, Adrian and Jonte; and niece, Kennedy.  Mona leaves some very special friends, Ms. Bertha Wafer, Bridgett Johnson, and Sherline Jones. She also leaves behind a host of family and friends who will truly miss her straight off the hip words. 

A Visitation will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 12 Noon followed by a Celebration of her life at 1:00 PM.  Both services will be held at Carnes Funeral Home 1102 Indiana Street South Houston, TX 77587.  Dorthea Jones, Funeral Director.
