Mitchell Coleman, Sr.
Mitchell Coleman, Sr. devoted husband, father, brother and friend, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Meridian in Galveston, TX, surrounded by his loving family.
Mitchell was born June 13, 1929 in Morrow, Louisiana the first of seven children to Ervin and Rosa Powell Coleman. He grew up in Morrow where he met and married Judy Snowden and this union was blessed with longevity of 64 years and 7 children. He was a construction worker until his retirement but everyone knew him as, “Sonny”, the man who loved to fix cars.
Mitchell is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, Mitchell Coleman, Jr. and other family members. Survivors include, Children, Pearl Lewis (Willie), Ella Jackson (Roy Lee), Maggie Yoakum (Larry), Jimmie Coleman (Cynthia), Doris Gipson (Jeffery), and Amy Epps (Terry); siblings, Alice Harris, Ruby Rhines, and Margaret Young; 27 grandchildren; 80 great grand children; 10 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Public Visitation will be held begin Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM followed by the Funeral Services at Noon. Both services will be held at Carnes Funeral Home 3100 Gulf Freeway Texas City, TX 77591. Services will be conducted by Rev. Marc James. Burial will follow at Mainland Cemetery, Hitchcock, TX.
