Melba “Jo” Cochran Williams of Clear Lake City, Texas was born December 7th ,1930 to Elam “Andy” and Bessie Cochran of Snyder TX. Jo passed away August 29th ,2020 after suffering a stroke. Jo spent her early years working with her family business, Cochran Produce and Fur, before graduating from Snyder High School Class of 1947. She married the love of her life, Bobby L. Williams in 1949 and that love continued past his death in 1992. Jo continued her education and at the age 45 and obtained a BBA from U.T. Tyler 1979. Jo worked for Champion Paper in Pasadena, in the accounting division, until her retirement in 1996.

Upon retirement, Jo (Master Gardener) spent countless hours tending her garden, enjoying friends, grandchildren, and spending time at the lakehouse with her family. It was always special to her.

As owner of Santa Fe Pawn and Music, she spent many days monitoring the accounts of the business while visiting with friends, customers and employees which included two of her sons, Steve and Paul.

Her kitchen table was the base for her life. At that table, a game of Scrabble or Hand and Foot would often be played. Food, love and good conversation was served at Jo’s Table. Jo was loved by all who were privileged to know her and she reciprocated.

She is preceded in death by parents, Andy and Bessie Cochran; husband, Bobby L. Williams; son, Steve Williams, and brothers, Marion and Jack Cochran.

Jo is survived by sons, Robert L. Williams and wife Judie of Shore Acres, TX and Paul R. Williams and wife Shannon of Crystal Beach, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Clark and husband Jerry of Clear Lake ,TX, Krystal Williams of Bethlehem, Pa, Robin Ogg and husband Ronald of Seabrook ,TX, Ashley Harms and husband Matt of Pearland, TX, Travis Williams of League City, TX, Jennifer Probst and husband Cody of La Marque, TX, Tonya Sansom and husband Mark of Friendswood, TX, Robert Thompson of Ft. Worth, TX, and Evan Nabors and wife Stephanie of Eureka, CA. Jo is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.

Of special note is her sister-in-law, Sandy Williams of Granbury, TX and two former in-laws, Ginean Williams and Holly Williams.

The Williams Family wishes to recognize the staff of Parsons House in La Porte, Houston Methodist Hospital TMC and Houston Hospice TMC. Thank you all for your special care of our mother.
