Mary Jane Anderson
Mary Jane Anderson, (84), passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Genoa Assisted Living in Houston, Texas. She was the wife of Robert R. Anderson. They shared 64 years of marriage together.
Born in Waco, Texas, she was the daughter of Barney and Lottie Torrence. She graduated Waco High School and attended Baylor University. After meeting her future husband through activities at the First Presbyterian Church in Waco, they married in 1956 and moved to Webster, Texas. She was employed at the Webster Post Office and worked as Postmaster from 1964-1979.
She was a member of the Clear Lake Presbyterian Church and loved her church family dearly. She was a true southern belle and will be remembered for her home cooked meals, love of the outdoors, quilting baby blankets for friends, knitting afghan blankets, and enjoyed reading mystery novels during quiet times. An active member of the Webster Citizen Police Academy, she attended several classes and participated in a "ride-along" program with patrol officers to see the world through their eyes.
She is survived by husband Robert Anderson, son James Anderson, daughter Judith Peace and husband Olander Peace, daughter Sarah Duke and partner Brian Dawson, and granddaughter, Cherise Wellmann. She was predeceased by daughter Mary Ruth Anderson and son-in-law Tommy Duke.
The online memorial service will be held on Friday, 8/7/2020 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM by Rev. Rachel Young, Associate Pastor of Clear Lake Presbyterian Church.
