Mary Ginger Kauffmann
Mary “Ginger” Kauffmann, 87, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019, in Webster, Texas, after a brief illness. Ginger lived a full and happy life, predominantly in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was passionate about fine arts, especially literature and art, and their ability to lift the human spirit. As a young wife and mother of two boys, she taught high-school English, then enjoyed many years serving and supporting a variety of nonprofit and charitable organizations in Corpus Christi. Later in life she and her husband opened a neighborhood bookstore, Page One Bookshop, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved encouraging people, especially to read, and the bookstore allowed her to do that daily.
Ginger grew up in Taft, Texas, and graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, as an English major.
She was predeceased by her husband Dee Kauffmann and their son Kyle, also brother James Nelson and sister Sibyl Christine Foster. She is survived by son Russ, daughters-in-law Karen and Jena, grandchildren Matt, Valerie, Michael, and Travis, great grandchildren Kainoa and Kabria Kauffmann, and Leandra and Eric Late.
Ginger donated her body to science, and requested, in lieu of a funeral service, that friends and family pause a moment, smile, and honor her memory with a toast.
