Marlene L. Purnell passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020. She was born in Quinton, New Jersey on July 6, 1933 to Lewis and Evelyn Miller.
Marlene loved her church, Anderson Road Baptist Church. She was baptized there in 1985 by Pastor Jacob Klingenberg. She also loved her family and giving her needlework to those around her (it was her way of sharing her love). Some of her favorite things to do were watching movies (Castle, Nash Bridges & NCIS), sewing and eating out (Red Lobster, Chinese or Cracker Barrel). She also loved to sneak food to her fur babies.
She was married for fifty-four years to the love of her life, Marvel A. Purnell. They had four children, Pam Witkowsky, Marvel L. Purnell, Wanda Davis & Janis Thurman. She also had six grandkids, twelve great grandkids and two great great grandkids.
Marlene was a very loving person who tried to have a kind word for every person she talked to. She loved to see the smile on people's faces when they received a gift. But mostly she loved kids and she would get joy just from watching them.
Her family will receive friends on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Anderson Road Baptist Church, 5114 Anderson Road, Houston, TX 77053. Marlene’s Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00pm. Burial will be on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10:00am at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX
